Activities in The Park

Have you ever wanted to try and run faster but not sure how to give it a go?

Come down to Victoria Park Lake and join in the fun with Shepparton Runners Club. No matter your level of experience or pace, we provide an environment which caters to all levels and allows you to learn, run and meet lots of new people in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Starting at 8am this Tuesday 7th November, then 5:45pm every Tuesday afterwards.

If you want to give it a go, we’d love you to come down and see what it’s all about. We currently average around 30 runners per session, and if you’re a regular at park run, you’ll find most of the faces are familiar ones.

This program is proudly supported by Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park program

Cobram Parkrun

By Lynette Anne

In 2014 two friends Tracey Grealy and Mairead Macdougall invited me to an event called parkrun in Shepparton.

parkrun instantly became my favorite activity. I’ve made many friends, walked for miles with a smile on my face and now have the privilege of sharing this wonderful event with the Cobram community. We also have a pretty special run director team. Best in Australia.

Next Saturday I get to do my 100th event. It’s taken a while but I’m pretty chuffed.

I do hope you will consider coming to Cobram parkrun to share this milestone with me. It would mean alot to have some family and friends share this event together ♡ and of course, brekky afterward at Fee’s coffee house.

Training for longer runs

Consistency and patience in training are the key for doing well in long events. Get that training approach right and everything else just seems to fall into place…..http://ultra168.com/2017/11/01/consistency/

Podcasts

A weekly podcast by 3 fast runners, for all runners. Brady Threlfall (2.20 marathon), Julian Spence (2.18 marathon) and Bradley Croker (29 minute 10km) talk distance running news, training, review running gear, check in with guests and cover races in a relaxed format.

Not running related the lovely Tara Trewhella has an excellent podcast called 20 Bucks Is 20 Bucks, talking about the fun (and not so fun) jobs we’ve had in the past. It is witty, light-hearted, and I’ll add a language warning for anyone who doesn’t know Tara. (Former SRC member)
